ES Magazine In treatment: Prescriptive facial - 05/01/2012

I like my facials to be hardcore. I don't see the point in forking out to have someone spend an hour rubbing various floral concoctions into my open pores when I could - and would rather - do it myself, at home, in half the time and with half the palaver. Which is why I was so pleased when I heard the unmistakeable sound of cling film being ripped off behind me - any treatment that uses cling film must be properly full-on. First, a heat activated enzyme exfoliating mask was slathered all over my face, before I was wrapped up like last night's leftovers with just a small hole left for my mouth. Almost denying someone the ability to breathe oversteps the hardcore line and ventures into quasi-torture territory - I loved it. The heat came from hot towels laid over the cling film and I was left to cook slowly (I won't deny that at this point I felt a little claustrophobic). When the cling film was finally peeled away, my skin felt the softest it has been in years. In fact, I was so impressed that I even enjoyed the next 45 minutes of gentle facial massage; it appears that even my temperament had been softened. LHJ
