Ayanna Spa

'A tailor-made facial' by MissCittyKitty - 04/09/2012

Delivering excellent results focused treatments, Ayanna Spa provides a little bit of luxury for us busy Londoner’s in need of services to relax and rejuvenate.

My first ever facial, gasp! I’d never seen the need to splash out on spa treatments when I could do a pretty good job on my own at home. But I’d started to notice fine lines on my forehead, the build up of impurities, open pores and dry patchy skin. Goodbye youth, time to hand over to the experts.

Who: MissCittyKitty
Skin type: Dry
Skin hangup: Black heads on the nose and chin and dull complexion.

Preparing to celebrate their first anniversary in October, Ayanna Spa might not appear best placed to evoke a sense of tranquility, but situated in the heart of buzzy Holland Park Avenue a few hops from the tube station, this actually, perfectly positioned spa is a sanctuary for many a over worked West Londoner.
I had been booked in for the CACI facial but was quickly advised to opt for the personalised prescriptive facial. Apparently I look too young to need anti-aging treatment yet *blushes*. I was quick to notice that when they say personalised, they mean personalised. There’s no flogging of expensive treatments, or regular visits if they don’t think you really need them. My therapist was bursting with impartial information on products, skin care, surgical and non-surgical treatments. A refreshing change as there is nothing worse than a spa that won’t advise you on how to maintain your skin within your budget.

For an hour my skin was cleaned, hydrated, massaged, nourished, smoothed and impurities extracted. Whilst my skin had a long way to go to before it compared to the polished glow of Ayanna’s founder, Nalini Williams, I certainly noticed a dramatic difference. It looked smoother, brighter and cleaner. Most recognisable is that 4 weeks on, my skin is still clear with only a few signs of small returning blackheads. Proof that leaving your skin in the hands of the experts really does pay off.

As a busy Londoner, the biggest barrier I face is finding the time to indulge in regular treatments, but if setting aside an hour every couple of months can bring results that last this long, then I’m well and truly sold.
